Adobe Media Encoder 2020 not connecting to After Effects 2020 problem fix

Hi everybody,

I faced a very annoying problem that you might also face or will face soon. Media Encoder CC 2020 can’t render through After Effects after the last update. It seems like “Dynamic Link Media Server” not working properly. As you may know, this bridge software connects Adobe software to each other.

So, after some search and trying, I found a solution before jumping out of the window in the middle of a very serious project 🙂

1 – Run Adobe Media Encoder 2020 and put some random video files there to render. And render to somewhere temporary as .mp4 files.

2 – Go to C:\Users\[YOUR USERNAME]\Documents\Adobe and rename dynamiclinkmediaserver folder to dynamiclinkmediaserver_OLD and close all programs then reboot the computer.

3- Run After Effects and open your project, and choose Composition > Add to Adobe Media Encoder Queue from the menu (or Ctrl + Alt + M)

It should list your comp in the Media Encoder rendering list.

Hope it helps,

  1. Just curious if this type of folder recreation has been attempted on a Mac computer? I guess that was a question …
