How to make tearable cloth in Maya?

Firstly, to see result better, extend your timeline to 250 frames or more,

Create a polygon “Plane” and a polygon “Sphere”

Increase subdivision width and height of Plane to U:40 V:40 (From attribute editor (Ctrl+A), polyPlane tab, in polyPlane History section,

Move sphere above plane

Choose nDynamics menu

Select sphere, press “Create passive collider” under “nMesh” menu

Select plane, press “Create nCloth” under nMesh menu

Select plane and press F9 to see plane  in vertex mode

Select one vertex from the each corner of plane

And Select “Transform” under “nConstraint” menu

Select Sphere and select “Gravity” under “Fields” menu

If you press play here, you will see our sphere will fall on our cloth but cloth will hold it,  won’t tear

To turn our cloth into a tearable cloth, go to first frame in timeline

Select plane, press F9 to see in vertex mode. Select some vertex from middle of plane

And Select “Tearable Surface” under “nConstraint” menu

Now press play,

That’s all folks,

Keep in Fx,
